There are things you carry that nobody else knows about.
There are things you carry that nobody knows about — a prayer you keep repeating, a disappointment you have learned to smile through, or a struggle you do not know how to explain. People may look at you and think you are doing fine, but there may be a part of your story that nobody sees.
Sometimes you may wonder, "Does anyone really know what I'm going through?"
There is Someone who does. God sees you.
God Knows What You Are Going Through
God knows the things you tell Him, but He also knows the things you cannot put into words. He knows your fears, your disappointments, your sacrifices, and the prayers you have repeated so many times that you no longer know what to say. Even when nobody else understands what you are carrying, God does.
But knowing that God sees us can bring another question: "If He sees what I'm going through, why hasn't He changed it?"
When God Doesn't Change the Situation
We may wonder why suffering continues, why some prayers seem unanswered, or why blessings we deeply want seem to come to others first. These questions do not mean our faith is weak. There are things about mortality we may not fully understand.
The scriptures do not always explain why difficult things happen — but they remind us that God is present in the middle of them.
Hagar's Story

Hagar experienced this for herself. After she was sent into the wilderness, she found herself alone, in a painful situation. Yet the Lord found her there. After this experience, she called Him:
"Thou God seest me." — Genesis 16:13
Her circumstances had not suddenly become perfect. But she knew she was not invisible to heaven. Sometimes, that is the reassurance we need too — we may not have all the answers, but we can know that God knows exactly where we are.
He Sees What Others Don't

Because God knows where we are, He also sees the things other people may never notice — the quiet sacrifices, the prayers offered through tears, the kindness we show even when we are hurting, and the efforts we make when nobody is watching.
The Savior taught:
"Thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly." — Matthew 6:18
He also sees the pain we try to hide. The Psalmist wrote:
"The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart." — Psalm 34:18
We do not have to hide our struggles from Him. Even when our circumstances have not changed, He can be near us in the middle of them.
Jesus Christ Understands
There is an even greater reason we can trust that God understands our struggles: Jesus Christ knows what suffering feels like.
He experienced rejection, loneliness, sorrow, and pain. Through His Atonement, He took upon Himself our pains and afflictions so that He would know how to "succor His people."
The Savior does not simply know that we are hurting. He knows how to help us through it.
Sometimes He changes our circumstances. Sometimes He gives us strength to continue through them. We may not understand His timing, but we can trust that He has not forgotten us.
God Sees Your Potential
God does not see you only as you are today. He also sees the person you can become.
We may focus on our mistakes, our weaknesses, or the things we have not yet accomplished — while He sees our effort, our growth, and our potential.
When we compare our lives with others and wonder, "When is it going to be my turn?" — we can remember His promise:
"Yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands." — Isaiah 49:15–16
Your current circumstances do not define your whole story. God knows your journey — and sees what you are becoming, even when you cannot see it yourself.
What This Means for You
Whatever you are carrying today, you do not have to pretend that it does not hurt. Bring it to Heavenly Father in prayer. Tell Him what you are feeling, even if you do not have the right words.
You may not receive an immediate answer, or understand why things are happening the way they are — but you can choose to trust that He is listening.
- When you feel overlooked, remember: God sees you.
- When you feel forgotten, remember His promise: "Yet will I not forget thee."
- When you feel too weak to continue, turn to Jesus Christ and ask Him for strength.
You do not need to see the whole path today. Take the next step in faith, knowing that God sees you, knows what you are going through, and has not forgotten you.
