Early in Jesus' ministry, when He sat on the shore of the Sea of \u200b\u200bGalilee, where what is now known as the Mount of Beatitudes stands, He began His sermon by saying that many in the crowd were \"blessed.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other translations define the word as \"internally peaceful, spiritually secure, worthy of respect\" or \"joyful\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is in this context that Jesus shared a new way of living\u2014a higher, more compassionate, and profoundly transformative law. He did not come to abolish the law of Moses, but to fulfill it in its fullness and elevate its principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets;

I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them\" (Matthew 5:17).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, He presents six teachings that scholars call \"antitheses\" (Matthew 5:21-48). Each begins with \"You have heard that it was said...\" followed by \"But I tell you...\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, these are course corrections that point toward a deeper discipleship, where outward behavior matters less than the transformation of the heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
