I urge you to remain calm and present five things you should know if you're attending a Jesus Christ church.

We have a sacrament meeting

The sacrament meeting is the most important meeting for members of the church because, as its name indicates, the sacrament of the Lord's Supper is administered there. An apostle of the church, Dallin H. Oaks, said: “The ordinance of the Lord's Supper makes the sacrament meeting the most sacred and important in the Church.”

The sacrament is represented by bread and water, is blessed and distributed by the priesthood, and is received by all members of the church to commemorate the Atonement of Jesus Christ and to remember the covenants made with Him at baptism.

This moment is very sacred and it is essential that all attendees show the utmost reverence.

We have inspiring music

Part of our worship is through music. We sing hymns at our gatherings, and these are also considered a form of prayer or a message. I suggest that during your visit you pay attention to the lyrics and melody of those songs.

We are very friendly

Since latter day saints congregate in wards (membership assigned based on location), it's likely that most people at the meeting know each other and will easily recognize visitors. This is also a significant factor, as some latter day saints will approach you to greet you and introduce themselves, hoping to become friends.

The dress code is formal.

For us, the members of The Church of Jesus Christ, we consider Sunday to be the day of rest and dedicated to God; therefore, we dress simply but formally at the same time. Dressing this way demonstrates our commitment to that special day.

However, no one will point you out if you're not dressed like that, because the most important thing is that we go to church with true intention, with humble hearts; it's better to let virtue adorn our thoughts.

There's a special message for you.

Whether in sacrament meeting or in subsequent meetings such as Sunday School or Relief Society class for women or Priesthood class for men, if you pay attention with humility and ask Heavenly Father with real intent, you will receive a special message for you that will help you receive either an answer, knowledge, happiness, comfort, or peace.

As you attend The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you will eventually discover that it is not a religion of one man, but rather, as its name indicates, the church of Jesus Christ, and I declare this with humility. Those of us who attend this church are flawed people who strive to be better each day, and we know we can do so because of Christ, His Atonement, and His example.
