Just as each temple is unique and precious, so too is each of our bodies. They are gifts from our Heavenly Father and should be treated with respect, love, care, and gratitude.
The apostle Paul taught, “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you… God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple” (1 Corinthians 3:16–17). Our bodies are considered temples.
Creating in our children a deep understanding that their bodies are temples is a powerful gift that will guide them throughout their lives.
Here are 5 tips that can help you teach your children that their body is a temple.
Teach about the Holy Spirit

The Spirit dwells in the temple and can dwell with us when we strive to do what is right.
It helps children understand the role of the Holy Spirit in their lives and how He can guide them to make choices that honor their bodies as temples.
Encourage them to listen to the promptings of the Spirit and follow its guidance in all aspects of their lives, including their physical well-being.
Respect for self-care

Teach children the importance of taking care of their bodies, emphasizing personal hygiene, good nutrition, and regular exercise.
Explain to them that, just as we take care of a sacred temple, we must also take care of our bodies, which are a gift from a loving Heavenly Father.
Understanding the limits
Help children understand the concept of boundaries and respect their own personal space and that of others. Teach them that their bodies belong to them and that they have the right to say no to any unwanted physical contact.
It emphasizes virtue and purity.
Talk about the importance of maintaining pure thoughts and actions. Evaluate what kind of content they are consuming inside and outside the home. Is it uplifting and respectful? Does it encourage clean thinking?
Practice gratitude

Encourage an attitude of gratitude for their bodies and all they are capable of. Encourage children to express appreciation for their senses, abilities, and the experiences they have through their physical bodies. Be sure to acknowledge how you respect and care for your own body. Do you set a good example by speaking kindly about your body and treating it with reverence and respect?
By implementing the advice mentioned here, teaching about the Holy Spirit, teaching about self-care, creating a sense of understanding boundaries, emphasizing virtue and purity, and practicing gratitude, we empower our children to navigate the world with confidence, self-respect, and a deep appreciation for the amazing body they have.
